What is the best web browser? Its hard to tell but as long as its not internet explorer …,5,6 you’re good to go:). Today I will try to help you choose web browser that suits you. IE7, Safari, Firefox or maybe Opera?

main

Internet Explorer 7

Internet Explorer 7 - Screenshot

IE7 is Microsoft’s newest web browser created with vista. After firefox, tabbed browsing became something standard, so Microsoft used it with newest browser… Did they do anything innovative? No, they just caught up with rest of the browsers. Its with every vista, and windows user will have browser updated by automatic update, or already do so, it might become most popular browser.
It is great choice for you if you already have it installed and don’t care.
Web developer’s note: Ie7 does not support most of modern web coding standards, so creating pages for it, adds extra work!

add-ons: Ie7 does support addons and there are a lot of them, so that’s good thing.
out of the box possibilities: Tabs, Pop-Up Blocker, Phishing Protector, Sidebar.

Downside: It does not support skins. Different layout may not suit everyone. It does not support CSS much more than IE6 did, although, png(transparent images) are finally supported.

Safari

Apple is trying with windows version of their browser Safari. They are saying its the fastest browser…even if it is, its not something important as differences are counted in 0,x sec. Safari, is good at rendering pages, but it smooth’s fonts bit too much:)
There is one thing that is worth mentioning, it has great feature-private browsing. Everyone had search or visited page that they wanted to keep private.

add-ons: …none?!
out of the box possibilities: Tab’s, Pop-Up Blocker, AutoFill Form, Private Browsing.

Downside: It does not support skins. No add-ons. Not customizable. No sidebar.

Opera

o1 Opera - Widgets - Screenshot2

Opera is the fastest browser to launch and it just works, there might be to many options for beginners, but no-one force you to dig through all settings:).
If you’re not into looking for addons to get your browser to do things you want, opera is your best shot.

add-ons: Opera has widgets, and it does same thing as every widget applications.
out of the box possibilities: Tab’s, Pop-Up Blocker, AutoFill Form, Voice Control, Widgets, Powerful Sidebar, Tabs Previews. The best out there! You are getting a lot of functions and options right from the beginning!

Downside: You might miss standard add-ons from time to time.

Firefox

This browser is worldwide phenomenon, in some countries its market share is close to 50% witch is amazing and only shows that people care.
It is most highly customizable browser thanks to its user friendly drag-and-drop interface and tons of addons.

add-ons: ALLOT!
out of the box possibilities: Tab’s, Pop-Up Blocker, Phishing Protector, Sidebar. All you need to keep it simple and functional.

Downside: Memory leaks, it may eat bit too much of your system memory from time to time after longer web browsing. Firefox noticeably slows down after you install add-ons even when you uninstall them.

Verdict

If you don’t care and already have IE7, stay with it .
If you only want to easily browse p0rn, go with safari.
If you want power and speed out of the box, Opera is for you.
If you care, go with firefox and browse the web the way you want to!

Edit/Chrome

Google launched Google Chrome, it has huge potential but i will wait little bit more with reviewing it but it looks like solid alternative, check it out for your own here

Edit/Safari

Apple reseassed new Safari(still beta) but it looks little bit like chrome with cover flow, overall i like it, mostly becouse of speed, it really seems to be faster then everything you know! take a look.

I think its always good to have more then one browser anyway. IE 7 is terribly slow in Vista, and its Phishing Protector stops some pages you know are safe from loading altogether for several minutes at a time. In fact I had to turn the Phishing Protector off because it got on my nerves.. I’ve never had any problems with firefox, until its recent 3.0.x branch which has a bug in Vista when trying to attach a file to a website, attaching any file crashes it. So I thought about trying Opera or Safari, but haven’t taken the plunge yet. You always have to keep IE7 around though, for its hard coded into the operating system anyway, and with ASP and ASP.NET Microsoft like sites you have no other choice in the matter for IE is the only browser that supports the .NET web platform, so I would have a really tough choice deciding on one if I had to choose one
